    ABA Diversity Scholarship Program

    • The ABA Diversity Scholarship Program assists minority high school seniors who plan to pursue a career in law. Non-ABA members can access the directory database of minority scholarships specifically catering to potential law students. The database breaks legal scholarship programs down by state, institution, specific type of student and the student's level of education. For example, you can find more information about scholarships like Heller Ehrman Diversity Fellowship Program, the Hazel B. Daniels Scholarship and the Paul Hastings Scholarships, all of which grant scholarships to minority students interested in pursuing legal field careers.

    Ron Brown Scholarship Program

    • The Ron Brown Scholarship Fund is available to African-American high school seniors who demonstrate academic excellence, leadership potential and participation in community service. Each year the Ron Brown Foundation chooses ten students to receive $10,000 per year, for a total $40,000 (as of 2011), which can be used to pay tuition, purchase books, pay for health care and cover the cost of room and board. There are no specific field requirements, and current college students may not apply.

    Catharine Lealtad Scholarships

    • Minority high school seniors attending Macalaster University may be eligible for the Catharine Lealtad Scholarship award once enrolled at Macalaster. The scholarship was created in honor of Catharine Lealtad, the first African-American graduate from the university. Selected African-American, Native American and Latino scholars who receive the Catharine Lealtad Scholarship receive $3,000 per year, and $5,000 per year is made available to National Achievement or National

      Hispanic Scholarship Finalists with a strong high school academic record. There is no specialized application program, but scholarships recipients are selected by the admissions committee at the university.

    HSF/ Peierls Rising Star Scholarship

    • Hispanic high school seniors in Texas and Colorado may be eligible for the HSF/Peierls Rising Star Scholarship. As of 2011, the HSF scholarship awards $2,500 per year for up to $10,000 to four-year university students, or $1,250 per year for up to $5,000 to students enrolled in two year community college programs. Applicants must be United States citizens or legal resident aliens, have a minimum GPA of 2.5, or a maximum GPA of 2.99 on a 4.0 scale. Preference is given to students who have participated in specific community outreach programs like Girls Inc., Upward Bound, AVID and the Big Brothers Big Sisters program.
