Instructions to make a fun Christmas craft! Tonya tells how to make a key for santa.

• Age Guideline: 3 Years and Up
• Time Required: 15 minutes (Does not include drying time)

The above age and time guidelines are estimates. This project can be modified to suit other ages and may take more or less time depending on your circumstances.

 

Materials Needed:

• Old Key
• Ribbon
• Plain Paper or Cardstock
• Hole Puncher

• Scissors

Instructions:
From Tonya, "In my family, we do not have a fireplace for Santa to come down the chimney, so we hang the Santa key outside the front door on Christmas eve so that Santa can get into the house and deliver his gifts. When the kids go to sleep, we place the key next the the empty plate of cookies and put some cookie crumbs and black ink finger prints on the ribbon. My daughter loves this ritual, and this is a good way to let your kids believe in Santa, and do something together."

Tie a bow using the ribbon around the top of the key. Tie a loop out of the ribbon so that you are able to hang the key over a door knob.

Print out this note on a piece of paper or cardstock, punch a hole in the corner of the poem and use the ribbon to tie it onto the key.

We don't have a chimney for you to climb through,
But if you don't visit my our house I don't know what I'll do.

Some say you are magic and can use any old key
As long as we hang it out in a place you're sure to see.

So we're leaving this old key right outside our door
Saying our prayers, jumping in bed, and we won't worry anymore.
