Draft a petition calling for a special meeting of the condo's unit owners to vote on the termination of the board member. Identify the board member by name on the face of the petition. List your reasons for seeking termination.

    • 2). Circulate your petition among the unit owners. Have available copies of any documentation that supports your case for termination. Emphasize the feasibility of your termination efforts; in most condos, assuming there is a quorom of unit owners present at the special meeting, only a simple majority of unit owner votes is required to approve the proposed termination, either with or without cause.

    • 3). Collect the requisite number of unit owner signatures on your petition; generally, this threshold for signatures ranges from five percent to 50 percent of a condo association's voting members, depending on the size of the condo, its particular rules and the laws of the state in which it is located.

    • 4). Serve the completed petition on your condo's board of directors once you have collected the requisite number of signatures. Upon receipt, the board is obligated to hold the requested special meeting in a set period of days and to provide prior written notice of the meeting to each of the condo's unit owners.

    • 5). Advise your fellow unit owners to attend the special meeting once its date is set. If any owner is unable to attend, advise him to participate via proxy by authorizing another owner to vote his interest at the meeting. Explain that a quorum of a certain percentage of total owners entitled to vote must be present at the meeting to hold an enforceable vote for termination of a board member's position as a director.

    • 6). Attend the special meeting and vote your ownership interest in favor of termination; if the procedures leading up to the special meeting and the vote were conducted properly, and a simple majority of the vote supports termination, then the board member will be recalled from his status as director.
