Hi, I'm Charlotte Lawson, a registered and licensed dietitian. If you are looking for information on how to decrease your anxiety with certain foods that you eat this can be kind of a touchy subject I guess. First keep in mind if you are having high stress and anxiety levels, don't turn to food as an answer. This should be really something you are looking at as an overall lifestyle. Are you getting enough sleep? Is your work too stressful? Certain irritants like that can cause your stress levels to raise. And turning to food as a vice or an answer to this anxiety really is not the way to go. As it could develop into something more severe even possibly an eating disorder, causing you to gain weight or maybe even lose weight and lose weight too much. Now certain foods for instance caffeine containing foods have actually been prone to increase our stress or anxiety levels. So if you are having an overall high anxiety feeling try to avoid those caffeinated beverages. Other things that can kind of help us with overall wellbeing are obviously a well rounded diet containing all the food groups. But also looking at your antioxidant levels. High antioxidant levels are found in our dark blue, dark purple even our red pigmented fruits and vegetables. These help to remove some of the free radicals in our body and again staying up with our fruits and vegetables help keep up with our vitamins and minerals as well. And can overall help with energy utilization and our overall wellbeing. So again if you are having high stress and anxiety try not to turn to food as the answer. As there really isn't any sort of miracle food product. Try to avoid your caffeinated beverages and look at increasing your antioxidants. I'm Charlotte and eat happy.
