Where did the word Ziva-ism originate? What is a Ziva-ism? The Online Urban Dictionary describes them like this -   "In the world of NCIS fans, a Ziva-ism is typically an idiomatic mistake made by the character Ziva David. She is somewhat foreign and is still trying to grasp the American language. American idioms drive her up the hall as she said.

Ziva: "I would hate to be misunderstood."

Fornell: "And does that happen often?"

Ziva: "Once in a blue lagoon."

Ziva used blue lagoon instead of blue moon, so this is a Ziva-ism."   However the word has now taken on a life of it own and is now being used outside of the NCIS fan community. I found these two examples on a website about babies called  http://community.babycenter.com/ where there was a chat thread entitled  -   "Ziva-isms Lost in Translation".........  I have included these two examples in this article.

Me: no, its is very political bread OK?"

 i have a good one!! it made me feel like such an idiot we were at the beach and i said oh cool look at the jelly fish's testicles in front of a crowd of people yeah, my husband laughed and said do you mean its tentacles ooooohhhh  thats why the world froze around me and everyone stared!  

And here`s a typical exchange between Ziva and Tony.   Tony: We've gotta figure out what he was doing here.
Ziva: And with whom he was doing it.
Tony: Doing what with?
Ziva: Whatever it was he was doing when he was undone.
Tony: Done...What?
