Risk vs Reward - Week 4
Week 4 was a nice turn around.
Two out of three ain't bad.
let's see if I can continue the trend for this week.
If you took my advice and started Brandon Jones you got 73 yards receiving including a 35 yard touchdown.
If you started Lamont Jordan you got 121 yards rushing and a touchdown.
I should of listened to my gut on the Rex Grossman pick as he was horrible again, but at least Lovie Smith has figured it out as well.
Ronald Curry - WR Oakland Raiders The quarteback situation in Oakland has changed.
Culpepper will get the start against the Dolphins and I look for Curry to be the biggest beneficiary.
So far this year Curry has 15 catches for 207 yards and two touchdowns.
The Miami secondary is banged up at safety with the loss of Yeremiah Bell.
Culpepper has a cannon for an arm and could get the ball deep to Curry if the Raiders can run the ball and set up some play action passing.
If your looking at starting a guy like Lee Evans and you have Curry on the bench, you might want to go with Curry.
Reuben Droughns - RB New York Giants Here's where the risk comes in.
It hasn't been confirmed yet if Droughns will start for the injured Derrick Ward, but if he does this could be a good week for him.
So far this year Droughns has rushed for 8 yards and 2 TDs.
Going against the Eagles is not any easy chore, but I got a feeling about this game.
Reuben's running style might be perfect to go up against the Philly D.
Even if he doesn't get the bulk of the carries, he will more than likely get the goal line duty.
Don't expect great numbers but if you are in a bad running back situation (maybe Steven Jackson was your number one pick) and you have Droughns on the bench I suggest starting him.
Alex Smith - QB San Francisco 49ers It seems that the most risk for any fantasy team is knowing which QB to start.
Alex Smith has been less than stellar this year, but the Seahawks D is ranked 30th in the league in passing yards.
Add to that Smith's numbers last year against Seattle, 33 of 50 (60 pct.
) for 325 yards with three TDs and no interceptions, and this might be the game he's been looking for.
If your starter is on the bye week and you have Smith, this might be the best week to start him.
Here is this weeks IDP waiver wire pick up.
David Thornton - LB Tennessee Tackling machines, in IDP leagues you gotta have them on your roster.
Thornton is on his way to having a career year with 25 tackles already.
Last year he managed 107 tackles in his first year with the Titans.
He is owned in only 10% of CBS leagues and somebody in your league has probably overlooked him as well.
If you need a linebacker, I highly suggest picking him up.
