Shopping For New Cycling Lights
If you are like me and use your bike all year round for commuting to and from work whatever the weather or season then you need to make sure that you have the right kit for the task and that means getting the right cycling lights for your bike.
On my ride to work during those dark winter mornings and even darker winter evenings I have seen too many cyclists with poor lights on their bikes.
While I am always the first to admit that lights in the past were poor, heavy, expensive and generally pretty useless, new modern lights are so much better.
The bulbs in those old lights were similar to those used in cheap torches and seemed to drink battery juice like a thirsty toddler however the modern bulbs are light, bright and energy efficient.
On my commuting bike at the moment I have two sets of main lights with halogen bulbs and additionally I have an extra rear LED light making sure that every driver and pedestrian can see me.
I haven't done any proper checks by weighing them but I am sure that the five lights that are on my bike at the moment weigh less that the two cycling lights that I use to use.
With every year that cycling lights are in production, the weight savings seem to increase.
Most of the leading brands in cycling lights are bringing out new carbon fiber models in the new year that not only offer increased weight saving but are lined up to be some of the brightest cycling lights yet.
