  Men have been wrapping scarves around their necks for centuries, and during much of that time a scarf was merely a utilitarian item of clothing. Today, men's scarves are not only practical accessories for keeping warm, but part of a wardrobe that can make a fashion statement. The following are some ideas for tying men's scarves that are both functional and fashionable.
  
  

The Ascot Knot

• The Ascot is the most popular and simplest knot to tie. Hang the scarf evenly around your neck. Take one end and bring it under and over the other end. Pull it down and then take both ends and pull them upward to look like an ascot.
  
  

The Parisian Or European Look

• A popular and elegant knot. Take the scarf in both hands and fold it over lengthwise. Drape it around your neck and insert the loose ends through the loop that was formed. Pull the ends through the loop and tighten.
  
  

The Once-around Knot

• The once-around knot is very simple to make. Drape the scarf around your neck allowing one end to be longer than the other. Take the long end and bring it around your neck to the front and let it fall over your chest.
  
  

The Twice-around Knot

• A knot that might need some practice to get right. Begin as you would with the once-around knot, but make sure one end is significantly longer than the other. Take the longer end and wrap it around your neck twice. Try not to make the wrap too tight. Both ends of the scarf should match up.
