How to Decorate with Radishes

    • 1). Wash your radishes thoroughly to remove all the dirt. Use a soft sponge to gently rub the soil from the radish bulb. Choose radishes that are the right color to complement your dish. Radishes come in vibrant reds, pinks, purples and whites.

    • 2). Cut the stems off of the radish bulbs. If you are making a salad, use the leaves to add flavor and depth to a basic spinach or lettuce salad. You can also steam the leaves and add them to other steamed vegetables.

    • 3). Place a radish on your cutting board. Put the cut side, where you removed the stems, facing down.

    • 4). Cut down the center of the radish to about three quarters of the way down with your paring knife. Rotate the radish and cut another perpendicular line down the center. Your radish will look like it has a plus sign cut into it.

    • 5). Cut the 4 segments in half with two more incisions. The radish will now have 8 segments.

    • 6). Place the cut radishes into a bowl filled with cold water. Put the bowl into the fridge and let the radishes chill for a few hours. The cold will make the radish segments curl out and look like flower petals.

    • 7). Remove the radishes from the water and place on a clean towel. Gently pat the excess water off the radishes.

    • 8). Decorate with the radish flowers. Place the radish flowers around the entire perimeter of the dish as a garnish, or place a few in the center. If you have a candle in the center of the table, put radish flowers in a circle around it to decorate the table. Further accentuate the radish flowers by cutting other fruits and vegetables into interesting shapes.
