Making it through your first year together as a steady couple is a milestone that warrants celebration. Use your upcoming first anniversary as a platform to prove how much your boyfriend means to you. A special handmade gift shows the amount of time and effort you put into making something exclusively for him as well as your care and commitment to the relationship. Use your creativity to make something that celebrates your first year together and welcomes the years ahead. - Compile a scrapbook to preserve and cherish photos of important moments together. Look for photos of when you started dating to more recent ones, along with mementos such as tickets to a concert, ball game, theme park or vacation; a picture of his first present to you, a cutout of gift wrap from a previous gift exchange or a dried flower from a bouquet he gave you. Paste the photos and memorabilia on sheets of paper in chronological order, along with decorative stickers, glitter and other embellishments for added sparkle. Also leave empty pages in-between for the two of you to write "Relationship Vows" or a love letter to one another, and leave several pages at the end to add photos of the first-year celebration.
- Take your boyfriend down memory lane with a re-creation of your first date. Take your boyfriend to the restaurant where you had your first date, the first ballgame the two of you went to together or to any place of significance for the two of you. Speak with the management beforehand and try to reserve the same seats you did back then, and ask them to serve similar wine you had back then. Request them to play similar songs or hand them a list of songs you and your boyfriend shared during the first year. Try to wear something similar to what you did back then; your boyfriend will immediately notice and compliment you for it.
- Impress your boyfriend and show off your skills with a handmade gift. Knit a sweater, scarf, a cap or mitts for use in the winter, using his favorite colors or pattern across the front. You can sew his initials across the cuffs of a new dress shirt or near the corner of a sport's towel. Paint him a beautiful picture or scenery to display in his home or office, write him a romantic poem, macramé a plant hanger or crochet a wall hanging. Tantalize his palate with a rich, creamy homemade cake and place a marzipan figurine of a man and woman on top to portray you and your boyfriend.
