    • 2). Complete a lottery application at the Housing Authority Office during the time frame the office accepts applications. The Housing Authorities in Las Vegas use a lottery system to select applicants for Section 8. The Housing Authority office will open the lottery system throughout the year. Local news and radio stations will post the dates when you can apply.

    • 3). Complete a full application for Section 8 assistance when the housing authority office draws your lottery ticket number. You can obtain a full application at the housing authority office.

    • 4). Complete an interview with a housing authority office caseworker. The caseworker will evaluate your current income and your lifestyle. You may need to supply documents such as recent paystubs, proof of residency or ID to the caseworker.

    • 5). Locate an apartment or rental home that accepts Section 8 Housing Choice Vouchers. You will need to get approval from the landlord and sign a full lease before you start receiving Section 8 funding.
