How to Troubleshoot a Kenmore Automatic Washer
- 1). Press the "Power" button on the front panel of the washer if there is no display on the front of the appliance. Pressing "Power" wakes the appliance up from sleep mode and makes it ready to set.
- 2). Open the washer. Reach inside to redistribute the positioning of the clothing in the drum if the washer is making a loud thumping or vibrating noise while the clothing is being washed. This thumping often occurs when there is too much clothing on one side of the washer.
- 3). Check the water hose connections at the back of the appliance when the "1E" error code is shown on the front display. This code means there is not a sufficient water pressure supply. Make sure the washer is not resting on top of the water hose, thus impeding water flow.
- 4). Remove clothing from the washer and look for loose change, keys or other small items that might be making scratching, clanking or tapping noises while the washer is in operation. Remove these items and restart the washer.
- 5). Put a level on top of the washer to see if the washer is even with the floor. A washer that is not even will cause the washer to vibrate or "walk" a little while it is in operation. Use your hand to tighten or loosen the legs at the bottom of the appliance to make it even.
