How to Connect a Battery to a Second Generation iPod Nano
- 1). Insert the tip of your screwdriver underneath the rectangular plastic panel on the top of the Nano and gently pry up to pop it off and remove it. Repeat this step with the bottom panel.
- 2). Use your screwdriver to remove the two screws from the top of the iPod. Then remove the two screws from the bottom.
- 3). Use the tip of your screwdriver to pry the headphone jack out of the bottom of the Nano.
- 4). Use the tip of your screwdriver to pry up the metal bracket just under the headphone jack and remove it.
- 5). Insert your finger into the bottom of the iPod and push up. The circuit board and internal components will come out through the top.
- 6). Turn the circuit board over and you will see the rectangular battery on the back of the board. There are three battery wires which run to the board.
- 7). Use your soldering iron to desolder all three wires from the board, then remove the battery. Replace with a new battery, solder the wires to the board and reverse the steps for reassembly.
