How to Document Women's Rights Violations
- 1). Collect your pay stubs for the past two years, or copies of the W-2 forms you have filed with income taxes, to show the rate you were paid per hour, week or month, especially if your pay varied over that time.
- 2). Provide evidence that your low pay cannot be explained by poor performance, such as written job evaluations, letters of commendation from bosses, or awards you've received, whether for a single project, an "employee of the month," or covering a longer span of time.
- 3). Include applications you made for promotions or lateral job changes to more promotable departments or positions and whatever written denials of your applications you received.
- 4). Identify male work peers who you believe or know are paid at higher rates, or who received promotions for which you applied, though they were less qualified or had less seniority than you did. Supply your company's organization chart to demonstrate peer status across departments. You may not have access to documentation of these coworkers' pay and the particulars of their qualifications, but you should know who in your company's Human Resources Department should be subpoenaed for the information.
