Spray on Bed Liners - Everybody Wants One
Spray on bed liners are what everybody wants now.
So said the clerk at my local auto parts store.
But I just wanted to order a simple rubber truck bed mat.
You know, like the kind that would fit over a spray on coating.
But, it was not to be found.
Spray coatings for bed liners finish the look of most any truck.
No matter what the vehicle, the liner fits in a custom way.
Part of the almost universal appeal stems from that custom, luxury look.
Whether it's a Rhino Lining or Line-X or another brand all offer similar features.
One big plus comes as a guarantee.
That's the promise to repair the coating if it ever is damaged.
That's a real advantage over most other liner types.
Here's the thing about the guarantee.
Spray liners go on as a paint coating.
Now, it's a special type of paint.
It's a multi-part material that gets mixed at the spray gun.
One real plus is the fast cure time.
The coating dries almost immediately and is fully cured in short order.
But with all that, it's still paint with rubber texture built in.
It suffers damage like any paint.
It's thus quite easy to do some basic prep work and then respray part or all the bed.
That's what happens if you damage the liner.
It gets recoated.
It's a tough coating, but it can certainly be damaged.
Then it's either fixed or it's damaged until you make it back to the dealer.
Spray on bed liners give any truck or even many other types of vehicles the custom, luxury look.
The coating is thick, tough and cushioned.
That doesn't at all mean it can't be damaged.
It can, but it's repairable.
Some other types of liners actually stand up to hard use better than spray on liners.
Those are worth a look too.
