Why Do You Need a Quit Smoking Plan?

Many people find that having a plan of attack will help them quit smoking even if it's just something to refer to during difficult times whilst coping without cigarettes.
Not many people can do this simply by going cold turkey, nicotine addiction has a real habit of stopping that.
Having a plan will prove to be one of the best things you can do to help yourself quit smoking.
Before you start creating your plan you need to make very sure that you clearly understand the basics of smoking and what makes this addiction such a tough one to kick.
Some of this is obvious but it is worth re-iterating to ensure that you give yourself the biggest chance of success.
When we look at smoking we see that the use of this drug nicotine and cigarettes in general are widely accepted otherwise it would simply be illegal.
Having said that, in countries like the UK, smoking in public places so as bars is illegal so you will see many people going outside to smoke or in fact quit smoking.
Evidence is beginning to show that banning smoking in these public places has given rise to an increase to the number of people trying to quit smoking.
Many people don't see tobacco as a drug but it does alter your moods and it will give you a higher risk of many diseases.
This is what a drug does and tobacco should be treated as such.
Having a strong quit smoking plan will have to include your understanding and admitting to the fact that yes indeed you are an addict.

We have to make sure that your personal quit smoking plan will include information such as what your new daily routine will be and how you will counteract the urges to smoke.
Knowing that you are likely to have tough times you should plan for these, for example if you decide to use nicotine patches, what will you do if you don't get on with the patches, will you revert to another method, perhaps gum? If you don't make these choices up front you are far more likely to fail.
Whenever the cravings come, you can revert to the plan to keep you off the cigarettes.
Having a smoke in the morning is a very normal routine for any smoker and we need to make sure that you start your day in a clean and ready to tackle anything attitude! This will keep you safe for the next coming hours till it is time for lunch.
When you make your quit smoking plan you may want to consider doing your best to avoid drinking alcohol.
Alcohol will break down your body's nicotine levels and will only make it much harder to stop the habit.
So make sure you come to the understanding that alcohol is simply not an option for the coming weeks.
This will save you much heartache and can only be a good step towards being tobacco free.
Another key element in your quit smoking plan is the fact that you will want to stay away from anyone that smokes where possible.
Seeing someone smoke makes you want it so much more and this is not a good thing to have happen when you are on the wagon.
Always keep in mind that the road ahead will be hard but the payoff is simply priceless.
