The 6 Main Areas of Boracay Island
If you're a frequent visitor to the Philippines' most famous beach destination, then you've probably stayed in a resort in White Beach, Boracay's main tourist and commercial area. And you're also most likely familiar with the 3 boat stations here. But what about the rest of the island? Here's a rundown of the 6 different locales of this beloved tropical paradise.
White Beach Station 1
Situated on the northwestern section of the island, Boat station 1 is where you'll find many luxury and high-end Boracay beach resorts and hotels. These include Fridays Boracay, Estacio Uno, Discovery Shores, and Pearl of the Pacific, to name a few. In this part of White Beach, you'll find the widest shores, and many say the finest sands, on the island. So, if you don't mind splurging on quality accommodations with lots of beach frontage, this is the place you should go.
White Beach Station 2
Boat Station 2, or simply Station 2, is Boracay's shopping, entertainment, and dining hub. It is here where you'll find the action and vibrant nightlife that the island is known for, as well as D'Mall€"a collection of more or less 100 shops and restaurants. As such, this is the most crowded and noisiest area in Boracay, and where you'll likely spend most of your days in. Accommodations here range from high-end to budget categories, so you'll have a lot of options if you want to be close to the action.
White Beach Station 3
Located at the southwestern part of the island, this area is the quietest of Boracay's beaches. In fact, it was the last portion of White Beach to be developed, so accommodations here tend to be more spacious and on the inexpensive side than those in Station 2. Although, in recent years, luxury resorts have also taken space in this tranquil area of the island to take advantage of the relaxed ambience it offers.
Bulabog Beach
While White Beach is the main tourist destination in Boracay for swimming or sunbathing, Bulabog Beach and its 2.5 km long beach is the spot for indulging in water sports. This beach on the eastern side of Boracay is where you can get your fill of windsurfing, jet skiing, parasailing, kite boarding, and even helmet diving. It is just a 10-minute walk from White Beach.
Puka Beach
Puka Beach is located on the northern tip of Boracay, named so for all the puka shells one can find on its shores. This is where many locals gather their materials for making shell jewelry and other souvenirs, which they sell to the tourists. This beach is relatively empty but not remote, as you can reach it via a hired tricycle or sailboat on a day trip.
Manoc-Manoc Beach
This beach is located on the southern end of Boracay Island and is where you'll start and end your holiday in Boracay Island. It is host to a steady stream of ferries or boats coming to and from Caticlan, carrying vacationers heading home or on their way to Boracay's White Beach.
