Video: How to Use Your Legs for a Military Press
Video Transcript
Hi, I'm Kusha Karvandi founder of Exerscribe here at Fit Athletic Club, San Diego, and today I'm gonna show you how to use your legs on the military press. If you're doing a standing military press you want to keep the feet slightly wider than shoulder width, bring the barbell up to your ear height and when you press you want to keep the knees slightly bent to start, hips pushed back and you're going to press the barbell overhead as you extend the knees and extend the hips. That helps transfer strength from the legs through the core up to the bar giving you a little bit more power transfer. Now if you're doing it seated you're gonna try to keep the knees and hips at 90 degree angles. You're gonna keep the feet planted and you're gonna try to do the same thing you're gonna drive a lot of the energy and a lot of the strength through your feet, through the core which is going to translate through the barbell making sure just to go down to ear height and up overhead. Again, I'm Kusha Karvandi founder of Exerscribe here at Fit Athletic Club, San Diego and today I just showed you how to use your legs on the military press.
