GPRS Configuration
- At 2.5G, GPRS is considered midway between 2G (second generation) and 3G (third generation) mobile technology; it enhances the speed at which data is sent to and from the device, allowing it to do things such as access the Internet, receive email and make video calls.
- GPRS can be set up in a few different ways. The easiest way is to get your network provider to send to settings to you in a text message. Visit their website and enter your mobile number or send a particular code such as, "Get Settings" to a service number (i.e. 441 for T-Mobile.) Alternatively, you can find the settings online and enter them into the phone manually.
- There are various classes into which a GPRS phone can fall; the class type is determined by the speed at which data can be transferred. The lowest class type, class 2, transfers at a speed of 8 kilobits (kbps) to 12 kbps upload/16 kbps to 24 kbps download. The highest, class 12, transfers at 32kbps to 48 kbps upload/32kbps to 48 kbps download.
