How to Be Fun Without Being Rude or Annoying
- 1). Realize that there is a time and place for certain behavior. Act goofy, hyper and boisterous only when the situation calls for it. For example, such behavior would be inappropriate in a business meeting or at a memorial service. Save your fun energy for less serious occasions.
- 2). Give other people the opportunity to be the center of attention. According to "SLife Magazine," one of the 10 most annoying behaviors is "interrupting or butting into a conversation." Ask people to share their stories and opinions, rather than solely discussing your own. Individuals who only talk about themselves appear self-absorbed and tend to annoy the people around them.
- 3). Encourage others to join you in fun activities, but don't pressure them. Recognize that everyone has a different comfort level and know when to back off. For example, if you are at a party and you want to go skinny-dipping, encourage people to join you, but if they say "no" more than once, let it go.
- 4). Do not have fun at someone else's expense. Don't make a joke if it puts someone else down and don't engage in an activity that harms another person or their property. Be a person with sensitivity in addition to being fun.
