Engine

• The 3.9-liter V8 engine was standard equipment on the V8 Sport and V8 Ultimate models of the LS and delivers 280 horsepower and 286 foot-pounds of torque with a 10.8 to 1 compression ratio.
  
  

Transmission

• All versions of the LS, including the V8 models, feature a five-speed automatic overdrive transmission as standard equipment. Anti-lock brakes with traction and stability controls also came as standard equipment.
  
  

Fuel Economy

• The four-door LS carries five passengers. The V8 version of the LS gets 18 miles to the gallon in the city and 24 miles per gallon on the highway. The gas tank holds 18 gallons of fuel.
