Everyone hates blackouts.
It is one of those modern inconveniences that usually means hours and hours of waiting in the dark with just your flash light and doing nothing but count the hours.
But we all know blackouts are inevitable.
They are most likely to happen during times of bad weather disturbances and emergencies.
But there is a way to keep your sanity during these times.
You do not have to wait hours and hours in the flicking your flashlight on and off.
Every house can create their own power through electric generators.
Modern generators are no longer big and bulky so you do not have to worry where you will put them.
Some of them are even so portable that you can take them with you on road trips and camping.
But the main thing is that when emergencies and blackouts strike, you can be ready and maintain a semblance of normalcy in your life through the use of generators (portable or otherwise).
What are generators? Basically, they are machines that convert a form of mechanical energy into electrical energy.
Think car engines but instead of propelling your wheels to roll and move forward, imagine it just producing electric current to power your home appliances.
That is basically what electrical generators are.
And while car engines are powered by gasoline and diesel to create that mechanical energy, same goes with generators.
The three most common generators are known as propane, diesel and gas powered generators.
In buying one, you need to decide which one suits you better.
Propane and gas powered generators are good and efficient but compared to diesel generators, they will need more maintenance.
Diesel powered generators are more durable and have a higher fuel efficiency.
However, starting them during extremely cold weather might pose some problems as diesel sleeps when its cold.
Propane should perform better during the cold but they should have an efficient starting mechanism.
Stay away from pull-start engines unless you need the exercise.
The main thing you need to realize is that if you wish to maintain a level of convenience in your home even in times of emergencies and blackouts, your main option would be to get yourself a generator for emergency power.
