How to Adjust the Poundage on Martin Bows
- 1). Set the Martin bow down on a firm surface with the front of the bow facing you.
- 2). Draw a line across the recessed hex bolts and on to the limbs of the bow with a paint marker to mark the current locations of the bolts.
- 3). Insert the short end of a 3/16-inch hex wrench into the hex bolt connected to the top bow limb. Turn the hex wrench a half turn. Turning the wrench clockwise will increase the poundage of the bow, and turning it counterclockwise will decrease the poundage.
- 4). Hook the string of the bow on a bow scale. Push the bow downward. Read the new poundage of the bow on the scale.
- 5). Continue turning the hex wrench and checking the bow poundage until you have the bow set to the desired draw weight.
