    Repair Work

    • The City of Naperville only allows homeowners to make electrical repairs to their residences without obtaining a permit. This type of repair work includes, but is not limited to, the replacement of ballasts, receptacles, switches and plugs.

    Non-Repair Work

    • Homeowners must apply for a permit from the City when they intend to do any non-repair work or electrical installations. Residents can apply for and track the status of their permit application online at the City of Naperville website.

    Homeowner's Association

    • In addition to any City of Naperville requirements, anyone wishing to perform any electrical work should consult their Homeowner's Association (HOA). HOAs may have further restrictions on what can be done to a residence and what design or style guidelines it must meet.
