How to Change the Belt of a Fantom Thunder Vacuum
- 1). Turn off the Fantom Thunder vacuum cleaner. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet. Lock the handle in the upright position, just as you would when storing the vacuum.
- 2). Find the screws that secure the rear of the top cover to the unit on the back of the power head, just above the wheels. There is one screw on each side of the unit. Remove the screws, using a Phillips-head screwdriver.
- 3). Lift the rear of the top cover with your fingers enough to clear the bottom lip of the unit. Pull the cover toward the handle to release the front tabs of the cover from the base of the unit. Lift the cover completely off the Fantom Thunder.
- 4). Grab the left side of the brush roller with your fingers, and lift it out of the power head. The right end of the brush roller will lift out as you lift the left end. Pull the belt off the brush roller and from around the motor spindle shaft.
- 5). Spray the end slots of the power head where the ends of the brush roller install, using canned air. This removes hair and dirt from the slot crevice.
- 6). Place the new belt around the motor spindle shaft. Hold the end of the belt with your fingers, and insert the brush roller through the belt. Line the belt over the channel on the brush roller.
- 7). Line up the right and left ends of the brush roller with the slots in the power head. The ends of the brush roller have square tabs. Pull the brush roller toward the front of the power head while lowering it into the slots. This stretches the new belt as necessary to fit the brush roller correctly in the slots.
- 8). Align up the tabs on the top cover with the three slots on the front of the power head. Insert the tabs into the slots, and lower the top cover. Reinstall the two screws you removed in Step 2 to secure the top cover of the Fantom Thunder.
