Planning for Bonfire Night
Bonfire night is an event that can be shared with friends and family whether you are staying in at home to celebrate or by going with friends to a bonfire event.
Hosting a firework show: Firstly start by planning how many guests you are accepting, that way you can begin to plan who you need to cater for.
Allow the kids to help make biscuits and decorate them brightly with colours and sweets.
Ask friends and family to each bring a different type of food that way it cuts down and cost and things to do.
Buy a selection of fireworks, some shops sell pack with a nice selection of different one in such as Catherine wheels and poppers.
Remember to buy sparklers for the kids to be assisted with and either make your own or buy toffee apples and bonfire toffee pieces and lolly pops.
Set the display far enough back so that no one is in harm's way, put a rope or barrier across to prevent any children crossing the boundaries.
Provide seating outside for people to sit and observe the show.
Leave around 30 sections if possible between each firework, a show should be around 15 minutes at home that way it is not too short or long and will not cost too much to put on.
Attending a bonfire event: If you have not pre-purchased tickets insure you can buy them on the door to prevent any disappointment.
Go early to get a good seat around the bonfire to stay warm and so you can see the show without people standing in front of you.
Take a warm jumper and an umbrella as the weather is always changing.
A picnic blanket is a great idea to take in case there are no seats left.
Keep safe - and have fun!
