    Function

    • Propolis is primarily used by bees to line their hives and seal any cracks or holes. Propolis has natural properties that assist in keeping the inside of the hive free from any infectious agents.

    • Propolis contains hundreds of compounds, including vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and flavonoids that promote its anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and antibiotic properties.

    Benefits

    • A few drops of prepared propolis taken as part of a daily regimen are believed to boost the immune system. Propolis can also be safely taken along with prescribed antibiotics to boost their effectiveness. A tincture of propolis can be used as a wound treatment, to treat canker sores and to soothe a sore throat. Propolis is also used in some chewing gums, toothpastes, cosmetics, creams and ointments and may have possible uses in dentistry to harden enamel.
