In today's busy world it can be difficult to find time to do things as a family.
Many people view watching television together as quality family time.
However, for others, completing wood crafts are quality family time.
Here are some ideas for different wood crafts that the whole family can be involved in.
Race cars - Down hill racing cars made from wood and painted by individual family members then raced down a smooth track are great ways to have fun.
The individual cars can be all the same, a simple block of wood propped up by four, free spinning wheels.
Each individual family member can then paint their vehicle in the manner that best suits that individual.
The track can easily be completed by taking one wide wooden board and attaching small sides to the board so the vehicles do not fall off.
The vehicles can be raced over and over again, with a little trophy going to the winner of each race.
Doll houses - Doll houses are very popular wood crafts.
There are some very fancy doll houses that are made by professional crafters around the world.
However, simplicity is usually best for doll houses that are going to be played with and are going to have the children involved with the construction.
In the construction of the doll houses, one can go a couple of different routes.
One can build each room individually; allowing them to be stacked to build the house, or one can build the frame of the house and then divide the house into rooms.
Either way, the children and other family members can assist by painting the rooms and by picking out furniture for the house.
Just make sure the house is big enough for the standard "Barbie" doll.
Wooden Toys - Toy animals and people can be a lot of fun for children to play with.
These toys can be an easy slot design, allowing for the body and head on one piece of wood, and the legs on separate pieces of wood that fit into the first piece and provide a stable foundation for the toy.
The family can become involved in the creation of these toys through the painting of the toy and the addition of eyes and hair.
These toys can then be held on to and played with throughout the years.
They can even become reminders of great times at home when the child grows up and moves out.
No matter what crafts and interactive events that you plan for your child, these are times that your whole family will remember and cherish.
As the children grow up, they will be able to look back at those times and touch the wooden toys and crafts that they helped make.
As they move on in life, they will come to treasure those moments even more as they realize how much time you were willing to invest in them in your busy life.
Those are the moments of childhood that are remembered the best.
