Cars Birthday Theme Ideas

    • Disney has produced many animated movies that have captured the hearts of adults and children alike. Cars is no different. If you are thinking about a fun theme idea for your child's birthday party, Cars may be just what you are looking for. Since it is a popular recent Disney addition, you will be able to easily use it as your child's birthday theme.

    Decorations

    • Since Cars is a newer Disney movie, it is still easy to find lots of supplies that represent the movie. You can purchase plates, cups, napkins and balloons with the pictures of the characters on them. You can also add additional balloons in black and red to match the colors of the main character, Lightning McQueen. If you are looking for a few other decorating ideas, you can purchase small working traffic lights to set up around the party room. Or if you are having the party outside and can find a good deal on used ones, you can use tires to decorate your party.

    Games

    • To keep the party moving, you will want to include games that relate to the movie. Since the movie is about racing, you can create your own Piston Cup Championship, the big race from the movie, by marking a start and finish line with tape. Then allow the guests to each choose a wind-up car. Have them wind the cars up and let them go when you wave the starting flag. The first car to reach the finish line wins. Another easy game is the traditional red-light green-light game. The guests try to reach a designated point, but can only move when you say green light and must stop when you say red light. If a child is caught moving during a red light, that child must start back at the beginning.

    Cake

    • If you choose, you can purchase a cake from a bakery that is made to order. If you prefer to make your own, and you have the decorating talent, you could carve the cake into the shape of one of the characters. Then cover the cake in fondant and decorate the cake in the style of that character. For a simpler cake, bake a sheet cake. Use store-bought frosting dyed black to make a road on the cake. You can add grass to the cake with green food coloring. Then place small plastic toys of the different characters on the road.

    Party Favors

    • A great party favor that the guests can help make are candy race cars. To make them, take a large pack of stick gum for the car's body, miniature candy bars for the spoiler on the back of the car and for the front bumper, either small round peanut butter cups or round peppermint candies for wheels, and a hot glue gun to put it all together. Once the guests finish making their cars, they can take them home. For another party favor idea, you can buy small toy cars for the guests.
