How to Save BBM Emotion Symbols on a Phone
- 1). Find the emoticon you want to save to the BlackBerry phone. If the emoticon has been emailed to you or sent in an instant message, the icon is on your phone. If the icon is not on the device, email the icon to yourself using an email account you can check from the BlackBerry.
- 2). Open the message, email or document containing the emoticon on the BlackBerry.
- 3). Scroll to and highlight the emoticon using the trackpad. Tap or press the “Menu” button. The context menu opens.
- 4). Scroll to and tap or press the trackpad on “Copy.” The emoticon is copied to the BlackBerry clipboard.
- 5). Tap or press the “Menu” key again to show the Home screen.
- 6). Scroll to and tap or press the trackpad on the “Options” icon. The Options page opens.
- 7). Scroll to and tap or press the trackpad on the “Autotext” entry. The Autotext page opens.
- 8). Scroll to and tap or press the trackpad on the “New Autotext” entry. The New Autotext form opens.
- 9). Type your code word you will use for the emoticon into the “Replace” field. In the example above, you would type “diamond1“ in the “Replace” field.

Press or tap the “Menu” button to show the context menu. - 12
Scroll to and tap or press the trackpad on “Paste” in the context menu. The emoticon pastes into the “With” field. - 13
Tap or press the “Menu” button, and then scroll to and tap or press “Save.” The Autotext entry is saved. Your new emoticon is now available to any application on the BlackBerry that uses emoticons.
