Recession Proof Your Income

It's time for another recession. The federal government recently announced that we are now officially in recession. It's unlikely that this comes as a surprise to anybody who has been even marginally interested in the state of the world economy for the past several years. Times have been tough all over for pretty much everybody and it appears now as though there's no relief in sight.

The problem with the recession is that it's like a virus--it starts at one or many places and spreads everywhere. For example, the subprime mortgage meltdown has impacted the mortgage banking industry, the real estate industry, and anything even remotely connected to home building or construction. Trades people, suppliers, bankers, realtors, and mortgage brokers, have all felt the pressures of the recession, and will continue to feel those pressures for the foreseeable future. Anyone involved in any of these professions understands the tenacious and all-encompassing impact of the recession on their jobs and their incomes.

And this is where the viral aspect of the recession becomes apparent, as these people begin to lose their jobs and lose their incomes. People in service industries such as restaurants, retail stores, and grocery stores begin to feel the pain as people who have lost their disposable income no longer can spend money. When this happens, all sectors begin to decline. A clear example of this is the automobile industry which now has the three biggest automobile manufacturers in the United States seeking a bailout of almost $50 billion from the taxpayers.

So the question becomes, are there any recession proof businesses that can continue to provide a substantial income even in a downturned economy. The answer to that question is yes. Online network marketing is exploding. The Internet has created more millionaires in the last five years than have been created in the entire history of mankind. During a recession, opportunities abound for income and for wealth creation, provided you know where to look for them, and know how to take advantage of them when you find them.

The challenge is to find a market that remains robust even in a down economy. For example, people now will be looking for financial education in hopes of getting out of the financial straits that they're in. If you can figure a way to deliver financial education to these people using the Internet as your medium, you'll be very successful. Yes, it is possible to recession proof your income. Find a market that's full of hungry fish, and set up your own home-based business to access that market. Not only will you be recession proof, but you'll live a life of abundance and financial security as well.
