First and foremost I Am Not A Doctor.
This is not medical advise.
I am however a diabetic.
The information contained here is based on my own research for my own information.
I feel that this information may be of value to others who may have blood sugar problems, or who just want more information.
I can not stress enough, if you have a medical problem, you need to consult with your doctor.
The information here should not be used to diagnosis or treat any medical problems.
With that said I will continue: Diabetes like many other major health problems have some serious myths out in the public mind.
Many times people consider blood sugar problems to not be as serious as say a heart attach, a stroke or cancer.
Because diabetes is what is considered a "silent disease" we do not give it the consideration we should.
Another "silent disease" is Hypertension, which is also found in many cases along with diabetes.
Side Note: Many health professionals now think that Diabetes, Hypertension, and Heart Disease all run together, that if you have one there is a very good chance that you will develop the other two.
By the time it has progressed to the point that it causes you problems you are already way into the disease process.
At this point you probably have damage to blood vessels and tissue.
Most Type II diabetics have had the disease for 10 years before it is diagnosed.
It usually takes that long before the disease causes problems that require you to go to the doctor.
Many in the general population are unaware that more diabetes die every year than those that have breast cancer and HIV combined.
To put it another way, for every 100 people that have diabetes, over 60 of them will die from heart disease or stroke.
That's two out of every three people that have diabetes.
Many people think if you're overweight you're going to develop none-insulin dependent diabetes, commonly known as Type II diabetes.
They sometimes think this comes from eating to much sugar or sweets.
Thus causing you to become overweight.
1.
) As far as being overweight does not mean that you will for sure develop the disease.
It is only a risk factor for it.
Other risk factors that play just as big a role, and in some cases more so are:
  • Ethnic Background
  • Family History
  • Life Style
2.
) Eating to much sugar or sweets in and by itself is not going to cause this disease.
You can become overweight from other types of food.
Any diet that has high caloric value, whether it comes from sugar or from fat can produce increased weight, thereby setting you up for the possibility of developing Type II diabetes.
If you want to live a long and healthy life consider the following:
  • A healthy diet
  • Regular exercise
  • Adequate rest
  • All things in moderation
