Review of Caesars Windsor Casino

The biggest difference between Caesars Windsor and its Detroit counterparts is its relatively quiet and peaceful casino. It is also less smoky, given the two-year-old Windsor ban on cigarettes in public areas. This provides a peaceful atmosphere for seniors, who seem to be the bread and butter of the complex during the week. Apparently, Caesars actually took slot machines out of the casino during the renovation to help achieve this calming atmosphere and roomier feel, as well as lowered the machines that remained to give gamers a better vantage point from which to orient to the gaming space.

Easy to Navigate:

In contrast to the MGM Grand, Caesars casino is not as flat nor as enormous. Instead, it covers two, pie-piece-shaped floors that are easy to navigate. While filled mainly with slots, it is relatively quiet and sparsely populated compared to the Detroit casinos and the slots are arranged in a mix of long rows and clusters. There is a virtual roulette table and poker machines, but no blackjack machines. For the most part, the older, three-slot machines tend to be located in the upstairs room of the casino.

Compared to Original Casino, Casino Windsor:

If you’ve ever been to Vegas, the casino in Caesars Windsor will feel very familiar, if a little more refined. It still contains plenty of plaster, Romanesque statues. This of course, was the point of the renovation. Gone is the carnival atmosphere with waterfall, neon lights and palmettos that characterized the original casino effort in Windsor. The table games are now placed in a circular layout in the center of the casino’s lower level for easy navigation.

Exchange Machines and Service:

Exchange machines are scattered throughout the casino. The exchange rate is competitive, but gets better the higher type of reward card you choose. Unfortunately, like pretty much every casino across the country, obtaining service help at a machine is next to impossible without a compatriot – white blinking light not withstanding. Even then the help is something short of enthusiastic.

Rewards Program:

The Caesars branding comes with another benefit: the Total Rewards program, which can also be used at over 40 Harrah’s Entertainment properties across the United States. In addition to reward credits, membership gives automatic discounts toward hotel rooms at Caesars Windsor. For example, the deluxe room in the Augustus Tower is regularly $169 during the week. By logging in online with a Total Rewards card, the rate was $129. If you’ve accumulated any reward credits, they can also be applied toward the final price.

That being said, the benefits of Caesars Total Rewards program are not well spelled out. It was unclear whether membership included any complimentary reward credits, and it bears mentioning that you can earn reward points for purchases throughout the complex, including meals at restaurants and souvenirs at the gift shop.
