How to Repair a Troy-Bilt Power Washer
- 1). Inspect all quick-connect couplers, particularly the one on the end of the pressure wash gun lance (wand), for deterioration of the O ring. Feel for O ring deterioration with your finger, if you're having trouble inspecting it with only your eyes.
- 2). Jab and puncture a deteriorated O ring with an ice pick, so that you can dislodge and pull it out from within the groove in which it functions. Use a very small flat-head screwdriver to obtain the same results.
- 3). Grasp the O ring with a pair of long needle-nose pliers to finish pulling the deteriorated O ring out of the quick-connect coupler, if you didn't pull it completely out with an ice pick or small screwdriver.
- 4). Insert 1/2 of the new O ring into the quick-connect coupler. Use a small flat-head screwdriver to work the O ring, piece by piece, into the groove where it functions. Make doubly sure the new O ring is completely seated, by using your finger to feel around the circumference of the O ring and its groove.
- 5). Take pressure washer hoses that have burst, into a pressure wash service department or rubber repair shop to have the hose cut and new ends recrimped onto them.
- 6). Add a water-soluble fuel additive to neutralize and spend water buildup in the fuel tank and fuel system of the Troy-Bilt power washer, if the power washer isn't equipped with a fuel preserver cartridge.
