Vince"s Message
This incident took place on 15th of September, 2011 in Scotland around the Fort William area.
First I need to explain a little background for this event to make sense. It was around 11 years ago (I was 16 in the summer of 2000) when my brother, our fried Mitch and I were taken by Mitch's dad, Vince, on our first ever trekking/hiking holiday around the Snowdonia mountain range, North Wales. Anyone who has ever visited this area will understand why after returning from this trip I was absolutely hooked.
The four of us revisited Snowdonia for the next five years running. We developed a really close bond and I could see how happy it made Vince to know he could share his joy of the outdoors and pass on his knowledge and experience to us.
Sadly, in 2008 Vince passed away from a very aggressive form of lung cancer. His funeral was one of the saddest days of my life, but I swore never to forget the times we spent together.
So in September, 2011 (I'm now 27), I jumped at the chance to head up to Fort William, Scotland for a week of camping and trekking with some mates. After one particularly tough day walking over a range known as The Seven Sisters, we were heading back to the camp in my friend's minivan. I was in the back by myself and decided to rest my eyes for a while. I need to point out that I wasn't sleeping as I was totally aware of the music from the vehicle's speakers and my friends' background chatter.
As I began to relax, I suddenly saw very vivid images of mountains in my vision. They were flashing in front of my eyes in perfect detail.
I was still completely aware of my surroundings when suddenly the name Vince just popped into my head. This was accompanied by a very strong sensation of him, like all the thoughts and feelings I had of him were suddenly crystal clear in my memory. I guess some people would say I felt his spirit.
I'm not spiritual or religious and wasn't until this point a believer in the paranormal, but right then I knew Vince was with me. I heard his voice so distinctly say, "I'm proud of you, Jake. You did well today."
I opened my eyes and all I could do was smile, even though tears were streaming down my cheeks. I don't know for sure if this is truly paranormal, or just the vivid memory of a dearly loved friend. Either way, I'd like to think that Vince was watching over me, and was proud see how much happiness he left behind.
