The Santiam Pass is located 18 miles northwest of Sisters, Oregon, and is a part of the Willamette National Forest. During the winter months, the Santiam Pass Winter Recreation Area and surrounding SnoParks offer snowmobile trails for every level of rider. Open from November 15 to April 15, you'll need a SnoPark permit to ride the trails. Riders should use the clearly designated motorized routes. - The Waldo Lake Snowmobile Trail is a 40-mile course that takes you from Highway 58 to Waldo Lake and the surrounding area. Along the trail you will travel past Irish, Taylor and Little Cultus Lakes, as well as take in views of South Waldo Lake and Mount Ray. The route includes several side tours and play areas to rest. This is a long trip on snowmobile so be sure to plan your trip accordingly. Elk Lake is usually a good place to stop for food and gas.
- The McCoy Snowmobile Trail consists of 26 miles of easy, to more difficult, riding featuring both groomed and ungroomed trails. Several intertwining trails each lead from McCoy Road to the McCoy Shelter. Several views of the High Cascades are available along the trails. Upon reaching the McCoy Shelter, you can rest up for the ride back or spend the night. The McCoy snow shelter is available for use during the day and for overnight stays. The maximum stay limit is three nights and the maximum capacity is 15 people. Firewood is provided for use in the wood stove only.
- The Cross District Trail is 11.7 miles long and part of the Benson SnoPark. This trail is considered one of the more difficult routes. Running along the Santiam Wagon Road to the Cashe Creek Toll Station, riders will travel along forest service roads by the Meadow Lake Junction and the Sand Mountain Loop Junction. This route has no fuel stop and is typically groomed weekly.
- The Fireline Loop is a difficult 4.9-mile loop that takes snowmobilers eastward from the Benson SnoPark through old fire roads and by volcanic sand blowouts. Along this route, riders will encounter both forest areas and open burn areas. This route is typically groomed weekly.
- The Isaac Nickerson Loop is a moderately difficult 3.9-mile trail that travels through forests and offers views of the Three Fingered Jack and Mount Washington. This is a groomed trail.
- The Prairie View Extension is an easy 1.7-mile trail that features consistent, easily maneuvered trails and crosses patches of old, scenic growth. This is a groomed trail.
