You've just moved to your new home, enjoying all the comfort and pleasure it can give you.
After a while though, you've started noticing that your hair, skin and nails are becoming brittle, dry and plain ugly.
You are wondering why.
The main cause of this is too much chlorine in your water.
Does this story sound familiar? It is all too familiar to many families that don't have a protective filtering system in place for their water supply.
Chlorine is a chemical used to disinfect water supplies in cities and in swimming pools.
Not only that, but it is also a common ingredient of many bleaches, disinfectants and plastics which are used often by many of us at home and at work.
By coming in contact with too much chlorine, we can effectively put ourselves in danger of getting various respiratory problems and other health issues.
When used at home through the addition of it to the water-supply system, it passes through in a relatively small quantity.
Nevertheless, when you move to a new home, you have no idea of the actual plumbing and how much of it passes really through.
When you build a house, you know exactly what you're getting.
But when you buy it from a previous owner, you don't.
Most of us love taking a long hot bath, or even taking a hot shower, which means that we are in constant contact with chlorine that touches our skin.
During the shower or bath the water vaporizes and the harmful chemical enters our body through the opened skin pores, through the nose, mouth and lungs.
No wonder so many people are full of allergies and have various skin and irritation problems on a daily basis.
Many times people have no idea that the irritant is actually the very bath they so enjoy spending time in.
As the chlorine effectively bleaches out our body oil that maintains our skin glowing and our hair shiny and soft, the body seems to have practically aged after taking a bath, it's quite a common complaint among many.
This is why people start using all the various oils and creams that give it back all the moisture and oils it has lost.
No wonder the cream and lotion manufacturers make a fortune from our misfortune.
The solution in many cases, however, is very simple: install a shower water filter in your bath to reduce the level of irritants that gets in contact with your body.
This filters our chlorine and also other impurities from the water quite effectively.
You can buy one that uses an activated carbon filter, or filtration membrane or even carbon resin.
Or you can get one that has several filtration systems combined in one.
When the filter wears out, it can be replaced very easily and it doesn't cost much.
This method should be employed particularly in homes with children as they are much more sensitive to various contaminants to which adults have already built up some level of resistance.
