How to Repair a Chair With Epoxy Glue
- 1). Wipe down the areas of the chair you need to glue with a slightly damp paper towel. Do not use any cleaning solutions or solvents as the wood will soak it up and make it harder for the epoxy to work.
- 2). Cover both edges of the crack or break with epoxy, and allow it to soak into the wood. The strength of an epoxy bond is made between the glue molecules. If the crack is covered in epoxy, closed shut and left to dry, the glue will merely soak into the wood and will not create a bond.
- 3). Cover both edges of the crack or break with epoxy again, and allow it to set by following the instructions on the tube. When it has set, clamp the crack or break shut. Do not clamp the chair too tight. If you do, you will simply squeeze out all of the glue and a weak bond will result.
- 4). Wipe away any remnants or drips of epoxy with a paper towel before they dry.
- 5). Keep the chair clamped or refrain from applying pressure to it for up to a week. Epoxy bonds are usually hard within 24 hours but will continue to strengthen over the course of several days.
