OCD Forum - How to Deal With Stress
Are you stressed?
If you're stressed, close your eyes and look slightly up at the inside of your eyelids. Sound stupid? It's not, you will feel your forehead relax. That means you have stress.
If you want to get over OCD, you'll have to learn how to relax. Relaxation techniques can be anything that you do that makes you relax.
Some people like to watch tv, read a book, drink tea, whatever it is, really remind yourself to relax. A lot of times we simply forget that we have that option because we get so busy.
Here are some ways that you can really relax: write down the things that you have to get done in the order of importance. Do one thing at a time. Once you are done with that one task, start on the other and so on until your list is finished.
If you try to do all of the tasks or several of them at once, they won't be done as good and may have to be repeated and you will be overwhelmed and ultimately waste your time.
Our efforts are like a beam of light from a laser, if we focus on one thing, that beam can be powerful enough to penetrate the wall, that's the power of our focus. If we try to focus on more than one thing, it's like the beam from a regular flashlight, it's spread out all over the place and we'll never be able to get through that wall.

Here's what you can do right now to make sure that your stress levels go way down.
step one: focus on one thing at a time.
step two: finish the task before you start on another one.
step three: once you finish the task, reward yourself with a small gift or free time, don't over do it, this is just to reinforce the good habit you are learning.
step four: relax your forehead, this will relax your whole body and make it easier for you to refocus.
step five: If you need help, ask for it, don't try to do everything yourself. People need people, that is a fact!
