It’s been a busy spring for ’90s rockers! A slew of bands has released and is gearing up to unveil new albums this season, and they’re blessing us with some fun, pensive and revealing music videos. We compiled six must-sees for your viewing pleasure. Check ‘em out below and chat with us on our Facebook page on your faves!

Blur - "Ong Ong"

Officially the cutest Blur video since the milk carton love affair of “Coffee and TV,” the fourth short film from The Magic Whip is a kaleidoscope of 8-bit fun. Damon Albarn and the boys dress up as assorted food and animals, while a charming orb a la Pac-Man tries to rescue his love from digital baddies. It’s like Sesame Street, Sábado Gigante and Super Mario Bros. all rolled into one cream-puff adventure.More »

Veruca Salt - "Laughing in the Sugar Bowl"

Ageless beauties Nina Gordon and Louise Post are in full rock goddess mode in this feel-good vid. They spin each other around like giggling schoolgirls and torch a makeshift city compiled of old Veruca Salt merch. The blaze plays out in reverse, alluding to the years of conflict that kept besties Gordon and Post apart. The hatchets are buried and all is sweet once more for the band named after a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory character.

Ghost Notes, Veruca Salt’s first album in 18 years featuring the original lineup that includes drummer Jim Shapiro and bassist Steve Lack, comes out July 10 on El Camino. Pre-order the record here.More »

Third Eye Blind - "Everything Is Easy"

Speaking of the infinitely young, Stephan Jenkins shows his pop-rock side in this black-and-white presentation. It’s all about shooting the breeze, shooting pool and shooting space aliens. (The classic video game Galaga makes a cameo.) It gives a glimpse into the recording sessions of Dopamine, Third Eye Blind’s fifth full length. Read our preview of the album here.More »

Barenaked Ladies - "Say What You Want"

BNL drummer Tyler Stewart recently told us that his group’s new ambition is to have a pinball machine created in their likeness. While that hasn’t happened yet, the video for “Say What You Want” comes close. A femme fatale clangs away at a console while the Ladies try to avoid the ultimate game over. “SWYW” is the sunny lead single from last month’s Silverball, the Canadian foursome’s 14th LP. And true to front man Ed Robertson’s obsession, the album is all about pinball.More »

K's Choice - "Private Revolution"

“Not an Addict”? You will be after just one viewing of the fresh K’s Choice song. “Private Revolution” is a firecracker, blasting from the upcoming The Phantom Cowboy (Sept. 18, MPress). Vocalist Sarah Bettens sounds even better than she did when the Belgian band emerged in the mid-1990s. And her brother Gert’s fierce guitar work will get your head banging. Don’t say we didn’t warn you. The imagery is literal and non sequitur, flashing bricks, fish and DOS-era computers across the screen.More »

Failure - "Hot Traveler"

The visuals might be low-key, but the rock sure isn’t. Failure’s first album in 18 years, The Heart Is a Monster, is characterized by muscle and sentiment. This vid shows Ken Andrews and crew doing what they do best: deliver solid riffs and moody blues. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to shoot a music video, “Hot Traveler” reveals the art of camerawork. It also reveals a completely badass guitar pedal board. Gear-heads will go gaga.More »
