Before doing anything else regarding starting a hobby or business with a freshwater fish aquarium, sit down and have a good think about this first.
If you make the wrong choice you just might end up with a room in your house with an empty tank but lots of water, fish and plants all over your lovely not-so-new-now carpet.
Yes folks, it is very true and yes, it does happen to some people around this globe of ours.
What am I talking about? Well you see, our instinct is to go out and buy the cheapest we can find of whatever it is we're buying.
But when it comes to a freshwater fish aquarium, well there just is no question about it for most already hooked by this hobby.
I am talking about which material to buy for the actual aquarium itself - glass or acrylic? What's the big deal? Well ok, there you are with your beautiful and stunning looking glass aquarium in your lounge, dining room or wherever it may be.
Then along come the kids after playing football outside.
Only trouble is one of them is still pretending to be Beckham but just ain't as good as him.
One little kick of the ball - boosh! Right into the aquarium.
Now there is no aquarium.
There are though, lots of fish on the floor struggling to stay alive amidst a water sodden carpet and tiny bits of broken glass together with larger bits of broken plants.
Yes folks, one small slip and that ball can finish off your glass aquarium for life.
You haven't got kids? Ok, one small slip of just about anything with a little bit of weight can do that same damage 'cos us adults ain't always as smart as we tell our kids that we are.
Listen folks, yes glass is a little cheaper, but if you pay just a bit extra for an acrylic freshwater fish aquarium then when the Beckham impersonater does his thing, the ball will just bounce of the aquarium.
Fish, plants and panels still in tack.
Pardon.
Am I trying to sell you an acrylic aquarium did you say? No, sorry I don't sell them.
All this is for information only and is written simply because quite a few folk out there buy glass and have this very sorry occurrence happen to them.
Buy glass - possible nightmare.
Buy acrylic - definite bounce.
