Germs and Your Money

Here is an interesting thought.
I was thinking about surfaces that could spread germs and what could possibly be the worst.
No doubt there are a lot of things, surfaces and places that could harbour countless varieties of nasty germs but I was looking for something on a level that we use daily and we don't think twice about it.
Well it comes down to MONEY, no not the credit cards although they would have their share germs.
It is the folding stuff we shove in our wallets and the coins we put in our pockets.
Most banknotes especially the plastic ones are designed to last a long time in circulation and the average coin will outlast the lifespan of most people alive today.
In a previous post I mentioned how germs are easily passed around when an infected person touches something so think about how many times money changes hands every day and with each change germs are exchanged.
Problem is that it doesn't stop there as our wallets, purses and pockets are ideal breeding grounds for germs as they multiply rapidly in warm, dark and damp conditions.
Obviously pockets will have more moisture being next to the skin.
Wallets will have a certain amount of moisture simply by being carried in the pocket.
Purses and handbags will also have a certain amount of moisture regardless if they appear absolutely dry.
Another thing about purses and handbags is that they can pick up germs every time you visit the restroom and place your purse or handbag on the restroom counter so you can wash your hands.
Moisture is absorbed from the atmosphere and the environment we work and play in so there will always be enough moisture present for germs to breed.
While it is almost impossible to go through the day without handling money the important thing to remember is take precautions such as washing your hands regularly especially before you eat anything.
Apart from an open wound, the eyes, nose and mouth are the quickest routes for a germ invasion.
I prefer to use a knife and fork to handle my food which is fine at home but not always easy to do when you are in a hurry, at work or going out with friends.
If you are eating out and are worried about the utensils, do what I do and use a UV Pocket Scanner to quickly sterilize the utensils.
It looks like a cell phone so you wouldn't look unusual in a crowd as anyone looking at you would think it is a normal cell phone.
Also a lot of fast food eateries serve meals in paper wrap or a bag which is okay just remember you touched money when you paid for your meal.
Either wash your hands or hold onto the food with the wrap or bag.
The old saying that "Cleanliness is next to Godliness" is very appropriate when you consider the current swine flu outbreak or any flu or viral outbreak.
A few simple precautions may make the difference between life and death.
