Failure to Thrive Part 2
Hello again.
This is a continuation of my experience eating a 100% low fat raw vegan diet.
On August 15 I ran a 5k race in 33:18.
August 15 was our 28th wedding anniversary.
Gloria and I went to a all you can eat Chinese buffet.
Gloria ate all kinds of delicacies while I ate two-three pounds of raw honeydew.
Chinese food is my favorite cooked cuisine.
Over the following week I had dreams of cooked food, and I was really craving cooked food.
On June 3, 2007, I was 66 years young my blood test results showed my High Density Lipoprotein cholesterol to be 93.
I attributed that to all my aerobic activity and all the fish I ate.
Flash forward to August 17, 2009, my High Density Lipoprotein cholesterol has dropped to 71.
My Serum Sodium had dropped to 129.
The normal range is 135-145.
My electrolytes were all out of whack.
My doctor was concerned that I could have a heart attack or stroke, unless I brought my sodium level up to normal.
This would partially explain why I was running my races much slower.
This and also the muscle wasting in my gluteus maximus.
After eating a 100% raw food diet for almost three months, I used this as a good reason to go on a cooked food eating binge for six days.
On August 20, I took Gloria back to the all you could eat Chinese buffet.
It was good.
My body weight overnight went from 109 pounds to 114 pounds.
This was from the excess sodium and the undigested food sitting in my stomach.
I am getting writers cramp, so I will continue this story in part 3.
Take care.
