Carly is pretty sure Justin has feelings for Hope, which doesn't surprise Bo in the least. She wonders if it would matter if Justin acted on them. Bo says it would change everything. Carly gets paged back to the hospital and thanks Bo for the news. Bo hands her some goofy glasses and wishes her a Happy New Year, which reminds her of the time they spent New Year's on the boat years ago. She puts them over her head, then hugs him before leaving.
Kiriakis Mansion
In Vivian's room, Hope attempts to open the puzzle box. She and Justin hear Vivian's voice outside the room. Vivian and Victor come in the room and are shocked to find Justin and Hope kissing. Victor orders them to get the hell out of his house. Justin wants a chance to explain, but an angry Victor doesn't want to hear it. "That woman is my son's wife! I won't have you putting the moves on her, especially in my house!" asserts Victor. "And especially in my bedroom!" adds Vivian. Hope insists that it's her fault and asks Victor to at least listen to her.
Hope wonders what she's supposed to tell Ciara if Victor wants her to leave. She explains that she and Justin were feeling sorry for themselves being all alone on New Year's Eve and heard the fireworks, then one thing led to another. Justin refers to the situation as impulsive and says they both realized it was wrong. Victor quips how that should exonerate them completely. Vivian wants to know why they were in her bedroom, lashing out at Hope for invading her space.
Hope claims they thought they heard someone coming, which is why they ducked in Viv's bedroom. "What a crock!" responds Victor.
Hope apologizes if Victor won't accept what they just told him, but claims it's the truth. Victor counters that she told him excuses and rationalizations. Justin states that Hope doesn't deserve to be attacked, since it wasn't her fault. "I want you out of here!" demands Victor. Justin agrees to go. Victor requests a word alone with his daughter-in-law.
After Vivian leaves the room, Victor asks Hope what's going on, accusing her of cheating on her husband. Hope quietly apologizes for disappointing him. Victor wants to know what prompted such behavior. "Carly. I caught her with Bo. They were in each other's arms," reveals Hope, who recalls seeing them kissing through the window. Hope desponds that her marriage is over. "I knew that whore was gonna cause trouble for the two of you the minute she stepped foot in Salem!" rants Victor. He wonders what if Ciara had walked in on Hope kissing Justin, believing the child has been traumatized enough. He lashes out at Hope for her actions. Hope admits that she's ashamed. Victor recalls how he always had a soft spot for Hope, but not this time. "You betrayed my son, made a fool of my nephew, and didn't protect my granddaughter against what could've been tremendous psychological damage!" he accuses.
Vivian comes downstairs, where she encounters Justin, who tells her that he'll be staying at the Salem Inn if Victor needs him for anything. "So you and Hope can find some much needed privacy!" assumes Vivian. Justin tells her it's none of her concern and Victor is made of steel, so he'll get over it. Vivian berates Justin for kissing Victor's daughter-in-law. "Bo has moved on, Vivian, with Carly Manning," declares Justin. Vivian asks him to elaborate and demands to know what's going on between Bo and Carly. Justin reluctantly reveals that Hope saw Bo and Carly kissing. Vivian calls Carly a duplicitous little tramp for luring Bo into her sticky little web. She heads out after Justin leaves.
Back upstairs, Hope doesn't blame Victor for resenting her. Victor insists that she needs to take control of the situation. Hope gets upset and yells that Victor's anger is fueling the fire with her and Bo. She declares that she and Ciara will be out the first thing in the morning. Victor insists that he doesn't want Hope to go, admitting that it's been good for him having her there. He refers to Carly as poison to every man she's come in contact with, believing she's worse than Chloe, Sami, and Nicole all rolled up into one.
Bo and Vivian
Bo runs into Vivian outside the pub. She puts on her usual "faux pleasantry" act and asks what his New Year's resolution is, hoping it's to reconcile with his wife. Bo remarks how it's a little late for her to be out and about. Vivian brings up Carly Manning the infamous kiss with her. She warns that Bo's indiscretion with Carly has driven Hope right into the arms of Justin. Bo is already aware of this. "Your father and I found Hope and Justin ringing in the new year in a personal sort of way," she recalls, revealing that Hope and Justin were kissing passionately. Bo doesn't believe a word out of her lying mouth. Vivian recalls how Victor turned as white as a sheet when they saw the kiss, just as Bo is doing now. She warns how his actions with Carly have driven Hope right into Justin's bed, then says goodnight. "Fancy Face, what did you go and do?" asks Bo.
Elsewhere
Carly has returned to the hospital and looks at her glasses. She reminisces about a New Year's Eve celebration with Bo on the boat years ago. She rang the bell, then things got passionate between them. She comes back to reality and wishes Bo a Happy New Year.
Hope calls Justin, who is at Salem Place. She admits that she almost moved out of Victor's place, but Victor persuaded her to stay. Justin is glad to hear this, believing the only way Hope will find Carly's secret is if she stays put. Hope asks Justin what happened tonight between the two of them, stating that it was wrong. Justin disagrees, referring to their kiss as a strategy, since Victor and Vivian didn't suspect that they were searching for something. They wish each other a Happy New Year before hanging up. Justin flashes back to kissing Hope, then encounters Carly, who asks if he's going somewhere. He reveals that Victor kicked him out, so he's headed to the Salem Inn. A smug Carly wonders if it has anything to do with Hope by chance.
