When Lucky and Elizabeth were reunited, Lucky was not the same man any longer. He kept her at arm's length, though Elizabeth still believed in their love. Lucky eventually realized that something wasn't right with him, unaware that he had been brainwashed by Helena and Cesar Faison.

Elizabeth saw clearly that Lucky was hypnotized when she caught Helena using a trigger phrase on him. Under treatment with Kevin Collins, he and Elizabeth went back to normal.

With Lucky's mother Laura running the Deceptions Cosmetics Company, Lucky encouraged Elizabeth to take up modeling and become the Face of Deception. It was a real competition between Gia Campbell, Nikolas' girlfriend, and Elizabeth. Gia won.

Jason Morgan Returns to Port Charles as Well

Jason Morgan returned to Port Charles, and Elizabeth found herself drawn to him. Part of the problem was that it was apparent that Lucky was still not out from under Helena's control. When Jason came back, she couldn't seem to stay away from him, to Lucky's dismay. Eventually, Elizabeth did refocus on Lucky, but Helena was using the Ice Princess to hypnotize him.

Lucky, Elizabeth, and Nikolas set a trap for Helena. Elizabeth hid as Lucky was hypnotized. Believing he could resist Helena, he found that he could not. She erased all memories of his love for Elizabeth and ordered him to kill her.

Elizabeth was able to get a drug from Bobbie that would mimic death so it looked as if Nikolas had murdered her. Sonny Corinthos then whisked her away when "her killer" was supposedly getting rid of her body.

When it was safe to return home, Lucky and Elizabeth were married. Sadly, Elizabeth came to the realization that Lucky's feelings for her had never really returned. He was determined to start over with her anyway, believing the feelings were still there.

Enter Sarah Webber

Elizabeth's sister Sarah had left Port Charles much earlier. Now she was back, and shortly afterward, Elizabeth was in a bad car accident. Gia Campbell was at fault, but Elizabeth couldn't remember anything about the accident.

Elizabeth moved into Windermere with Gia and Nikolas in order to recover. Lucky, in the mean time, was renewing his interest in Sarah. When Elizabeth remembered what happened during the accident, she was hurt and angry that Nikolas and Gia not only never told her the truth, but took steps to make sure that she wouldn't find out.

She subsequently learned about her sister and Lucky when a jealous Maxie sent Elizabeth to Lucky's room at Kelly's, aware that he was having sex with Sarah.

Elizabeth at this point felt betrayed by everyone.
