R7 460 Specifications

104 38
    • The R7 460 is a driver manufactured by the golf equipment company Taylor. Because the club design allows the user to adjust club weight, it is relatively versatile. According to the rules of golf, the head of this driver is the largest legal size. Taylor no longer makes the R7 460, but does make the R9 460 and R9 460 TP as well as the R7 CGB Max and R7 CGB Max limited.

    Specifications

    • The Taylor Made R7 460 driver has a head size of 460 cc. The face angle is open and the lie angle is 59 degrees. The club length is 45 inches, while the overall club weight is 54 grams with the RE AX 54 shaft, or 64 grams with the RE AX 64--both shafts are produced by Mitsubishi. The heavier club is intended for higher club speed swings. The overall club torque is 3.1 degrees, while the tip size is .335 inches. The build length is 45 inches.

    Features

    • The club head wall measures only .6 mm thick. This thinness allows Taylor to reduce club weight enough to install weight ports within the club. According to a PGA professional and member of the Taylor Made playing staff, club weight adjustment gives a player the ability to "promote a draw bias or a neutral flight" with a shot. The R7 460 includes movable weight up to 32 grams, with 2-gram, 6-gram, 10-gram and 14-gram cartridges. These weight adjustments allow a player to change among 12 different positions and alter shot movement up to 15 yards right or left.

    Design and Appearance

    • Taylor Made's patented inverted cone design is also a highlight. The inverted cone technology expands the club face to increase the size of the sweet spot, which in turn helps to increase the distance and velocity of a shot as well as shot forgiveness. The spacing of the two weight ports increases forgiveness and boosts inertia. The standard Re AX shaft uses a woven layer of fibers in the middle of the club to reduce club ovaling. This increases shot reliability and consistency. The top of the club head is black, while the bottom is silver and has a yellow arch as well as red and black R7 decals.
