Plastic Gutter Installation

• 1). Measure the length of guttering you will need for your home.
  
  
• 2). Mark where one end of the gutter will go on the fascia board and stretch a string level to the opposite end marking a level line. Pop a chalk line making a level line across the fascia.
  
  
• 3). Measure 10 feet from the end where you started and measure ¼ inch under the chalk line and make a mark. Measure another 10 feet down the chalk line and mark a line ½ inch under the chalk line. Continue to do this to allow ¼ inch drop for every 10 feet so water will run down the gutter.
  
  
• 4). Attach guttering brackets every 24 inches beginning 4 inches from the end where you made the first mark. Brackets should be screwed into the fascia board. Attach gutter splices every 10 feet to join two gutters together.
  
  
• 5). Attach the gutter drop at the far end of the gutter run.
  
  
• 6). Place an end cap on the first 10 foot run of gutter. Balance the gutter on top of the brackets you installed. Carefully start snapping the gutter into the brackets one by one.
  
  
• 7). Install the end of the gutter into the gutter splice and lay the second run of gutter across the next set of gutter brackets. Snap the end of the other gutter run into the splice and start snapping into the brackets. Continue until you get to the end of the fascia.
  
  
• 8). Cut the length of gutter you need to splice the gutter run and the gutter drop you installed earlier and install these two together. Use a fine tooth saw and smooth any burrs with sand paper for a clean look.
  
  
• 9). Cut a 5 inch piece of downspout and place it into the bottom of the drop outlet. Then install a 45 degree elbow with the opening towards the wall.

  Prepare the downspout by placing another elbow at the end of the downspout with the opening facing out and holding in place against the wall. Measure how much pip is needed for the two elbows to connect and cut a piece of downspout to connect the two.
