How to Protect the Laminate Floor From a Cast Iron Tub
- 1). Place a pad under each foot of the cast iron tub to prevent the laminate from getting scratched by the feet. Avoid dragging the tub when moving it.
- 2). Wipe off the laminate floor under the tub after the tub is used. A combination of condensation, bath water and steam can cause moisture to collect under the tub. If the tub is starting to rust, the oxidation will mix with the water and can stain the floor. Wiping up the water immediately will help eliminate potential stains. Another alternative is laying down towels under the tub when it is in use.
- 3). Move the tub over a few inches every week or two to help prevent permanent dents from forming in the laminate. This allows the floor area previously burdened by the weight of the tub's feet to recover structurally. Keeping the tub in the exact same location can weigh down the floor to where it won't be able to recover, even if the tub is removed.
