Promoting High Ticket Affiliate Products
Some offer a dollar or two per sale while others can offer hundreds or even thousands of dollars per sale.
So should you only focus on promoting these high ticket affiliate products? Well I personally believe that when you're first starting out you should focus on getting some easy sales under your belt.
So inexpensive products are a great way to start your affiliate marketing career.
Nothing beats the feeling you get when you make your first sale as an affiliate, regardless of the amount of commission you just made.
If you can make one sale, then you know you can repeat the process and make more and more in the future.
So there's absolutely nothing wrong with promoting relatively inexpensive items to begin with.
It's a great way to start.
Once you start making more and more sales you can step up your efforts making more websites, building lists in new niches, and trying out different ways of generating traffic and promoting your products.
However, there comes a time when you have a firm grasp of affiliate marketing, you've sold a number of products in different niches, and know how to turn visitors to your website and subscribers to your list into buyers.
This is the time to start promoting high ticket affiliate products and really ramp up your profits.
Many people automatically assume that these more expensive items are more difficult to sell with much lower conversion rates, but this is not always the case.
I've promoted products to my list in certain niches that cost several hundred dollars, but have seen conversions of between 2 and 4% which is pretty good even for much cheaper items.
The key lies in your promotion technique.
If you're just sending untargeted traffic to your affiliate links, or placing random banners on your blog, then you are unlikely to achieve these kinds of conversions, but if you write a personal review or endorsement, or send out a series of pre-selling emails to your subscriber list, then you can make a lot of sales.
Another great way to achieve good conversions on high ticket products is to offer a great bonus to people who specifically buy the product from your affiliate link.
This helps stop people viewing the product and then going elsewhere on the internet to read reviews before buying it through someone else's link.
So don't be afraid of promoting expensive products as an affiliate because if you promote these products correctly, you will make a lot more money than if you sell measly $20-$40 products.
To demonstrate this point, let's say you sent 100 visitors to two different products.
One costs $40 and pays $20 per sale, another costs $497 and pays $200 per sale.
Let's say that you achieve an excellent conversion of 7% on the cheaper product.
This works out at 7 sales and $140 in commissions.
Now let's say you achieve a conversion rate of 1% on the more expensive item.
This equates to 1 sale and $200 in commissions, so by selling just 1 product you've made $60 more than your high converting cheaper product.
Furthermore in reality the conversion rate will rarely be as high as 7% for the cheaper product in my experience.
In most cases it will be between 2 and 5%, and you can often achieve conversion rateshigher than 1% on your more expensive items if you promote them using the methods mentioned previously.
So overall if you have some experience promoting products as an affiliate I think it's always better to promote high ticket affiliate products because you can still achieve good conversions if you promote them well, and they are top quality products to begin with, so you can make a lot more money in the long run.
