How to Make a Coffee Party Special
- 1). Create custom invitations for the coffee party. Head to the local craft store and check out the scrapbooking section. Pick up materials to make your own invitations --- perhaps in the shape of a coffee bean or mug. Be creative and decorate the invitations by hand. Handmade invitations, or anything for that matter, are always more special than those that can simply be purchased prepackaged in the masses. Be sure to include what the party is for, where the party will be held, the date and time the party will begin, who will be hosting the party and what number to reach the host in order to RSVP.
- 2). Decorate the venue, whether someone's home or an actual coffeehouse. (Make sure to get permission to decorate from a manager or supervisor if throwing the party at a coffee shop.) Decorating for a party shows the host took the time to make guests feel special. Fill small jars with coffee beans. Stick a flower inside each jar, using the coffee beans to hold the stem in place. Burn a few coffee-scented candles. Create a sign that says, "Java Nice Day!" and hang it from the wall. Use espresso cups to hold coffee stirrers, sugar cubes and other coffee condiments. Place them atop old coffee cans of various shapes and sizes. Place silver coffee scoops around the venue and fill them with breath mints.
- 3). Make name tags in the shape of coffee beans. Name tags are a quick and simple way to introduce guests who may not otherwise know each other. You can design your own name tags in Microsoft Word, a program already installed on many computers. Open up Word and select "Tools," then "Letters and Mailings." Choose "Envelopes and Labels." Insert a photo or clip art picture of a coffee bean and type the guest's name. Do this for each guest and then print on label paper.
- 4). Offer a variety of coffee drinks. Rather than simply serving coffee at the coffee party, consider serving a wide range of coffee-type beverages. Purchase an espresso machine to make the drinks even more special. Take a look at the Starbucks menu for inspiration. Lattes, cappuccinos and macchiatos are some other popular coffee drinks. Offer a few different decaf options, as well. Also be sure to have a variety of milks and sugars. Have available nonfat, low-fat, whole and soy milk. Set out sugar, Sweet and Low, Equal and Splenda. Almost everyone has a preference when it comes to these things, and offering an assortment of condiments shows you care enough for each guest to enjoy their cup exactly how they like it.
- 5). Hand out coffee goodie bags at the end of the party. Fill them with single serving packages of ground coffee. Tie the party favors in brown, tan and cream color ribbon to give them some extra punch.
